General Information

Accessible, affordable and fun youth sailing camps in the middle of the city. By the end of the camp each child will have learned how to set up and sail a boat under the instruction of nationally certified instructors. These camps include land-based and on-the-water education in the Optimist training sailboat. One of the most popular sailboats for youth, the Optimist is easy to learn and sail, even for the youngest child. The Glenmore Sailing Club offers four CANSail programs this summer, all taught by Sail Canada accredited instructors. Wet Feet (ages 5-7) is an introduction to sailing designed specifically for this age group. Children will learn about sailing boats, water safety, and fundamental movement and balance skills. This week-long half-day course offered both mornings and afternoons. CANSail 1 (ages 8-13) is a full day, week long introduction class. The primary focus of this course is to provide a fun and safe introduction to the sport of sailing. There are no pre-requisites for this course. CANSail 2 (ages 8-13) is a full day, week long intermediate class. The prerequisite for this course is completion of CANSail 1. CANSail 3+ (ages 9-14) is a full day, week long advanced course. The prerequisite for this course is completion of CANSail 1 and CANSail 2. During this course, content will be taken from CANSail 3 through CANSail 6. Lessons will be tailored to the sailors in the group. Please read the Youth Sailing Camp package. This package contains details of these courses and should be reviewed by all registrants.
